Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has played down reports that he is ready to sell full back Glen Johnson in the January transfer window.
Rumours in Italy have gathered pace suggesting that Johnson to Juventus was close to becoming a done deal – and this talk only intensified as Liverpool were linked with a move for Rennes’ Rod Fanni.
However, Hodgson has said that, for him, Johnson remains a Liverpool player and will do so for the foreseeable future.
"As far as I am concerned Glen Johnson will be a Liverpool player certainly until the end of his contract and possibly beyond it", Hodgson told Sky Sports. "We are very happy with him, he is a top-class player, an England international, so why should we want to lose him?"
The Liverpool boss did add however that, "maybe his agent has other ideas."
