Athletic Bilbao could choose between Frank Rijkaard, Marcelo Bielsa and Louis van Gaal to take over as their new coach for next season.
The Presidential Elections at the Basque club are in full swing and one of the candidates, former player Josu Urrutia, has drawn up a shortlist containing the names of the esteemed coaches.
Urrutia’s main target is thought to be Rijkaard, the former Barcelona boss who has been out of work since departing as Galatasaray coach. Rijkaard’s appointment would be attractive, especially to would-be presidential voters, as he has experience within La Liga and a record of success.
Van Gaal too has La Liga experience, while Bielsa’s brand of attacking football would be welcomed in Bilbao.
