Sources in Germany indicate that Bayern Munich are pondering moving for Inter centre back Lucio.

The Brazilian used to turn out for Bayern before he was allowed to leave for Inter in 2009, with a judgement made that the defender’s best days were behind him.

However, Lucio excelled at the Nerazzurri and helped the club to an unprecedented Treble of Serie A, the Coppa Italia and Champions League in the 2009/10 season, even beating former club Bayern in the final of the Champions League at the Bernabeu.

Now the Bundesliga giants are considering the possibility of launching a swoop to take Lucio back to Munich.

While Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng had been, and remains, Bayern’s number one target, the €20M demanded by the English side is proving prohibitive.

Lucio’s future at Inter is open to debate given the recent arrival of new coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The former Genoa boss could soon have a decision to make over whether to keep the 33-year-old.
