Our-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago has expressed his disappointment that Boca Juniors did not push the boat out to take him back to Argentina.
Gago is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and was desperate to return home to play for Boca.
But the Argentine giants would not meet Real Madrid’s asking price and offered just €1M for the midfielder.
Gago believes that Boca could have done more and is sure he did all he could to push the transfer along.
"I wanted to play for Boca Juniors because it’s my second home", said Gago to Argentine radio station La Red, "but it wasn’t good or maybe they thought that I did not suit them.
"I did most of what I could come to come back, but I noted no enthusiasm.
"Real cut the price needed to get me at my request.
"I made every effort to return, reduced my salary demands because it was not important to me, but they could have done a little more to get me."
Now Gago is looking to the future, with the player declaring that he has "20 days to negotiate and analyse proposals."
