Samir Nasri has expressed his delight at finally completing his switch from Arsenal to Manchester City, revealing that it was "all I wanted since the start".

The midfielder has cost City an estimated £25M and believes that he is joining a club on the up.

Nasri was involved in Arsenal’s 2-0 weekend loss at home to Liverpool and that had raised some doubts about his impending move, but the France international is delighted to have landed at Eastlands.

"It’s a big relief because there were long, long negotiations between the clubs", said Nasri.

"Now I am finally a City player and that’s all I wanted since the start. It is a big day for me. It is a new start."

The 24-year-old also explained he was disappointed with Arsenal for having taken so long to conclude his transfer.

"I feel a little bit frustrated because I said to the manager I wanted to leave.

"I stayed for the whole pre-season.

"I wanted to do pre-season with Manchester to know my team-mates."
