Arsenal are believed to be ready to test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve to keep Mario Gotze at the club by sending an official bid for the Germany international.

Gotze is admired by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, although the Frenchman is well aware that now the secret of the attacking midfielder’s talent is well and truly out, snaring him could prove mission impossible.

That will not though stop the English giants from at least trying to capture the 19-year-old.

Sources indicate that Arsenal are ready to offer £20M plus Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh as a first strike for Gotze.

While it remains highly unlikely that Jurgen Klopp’s side will accept Arsenal’s offer, the inclusion of Chamakh is an interesting turn of events.

The former Bordeaux striker is attracting much attention, with Dortmund themselves having been linked, as he struggles to cement a spot in Arsenal’s first team.

Indeed, with Gotze’s agent having ruled out a move before 2014 for his client, Arsenal’s bid could only serve to further advertise Chamakh’s availability, with Dortmund surely taking note.
