Following a report from France Football that Didier Drogba has decided to leave Chelsea this summer, Ligue 1 powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to approach the Ivorian.

PSG tried to recruit Drogba last summer, but were knocked back by the former Marseille hitman. Now however, according to L’Equipe, the Parc des Princes outfit are preparing to try again, encouraged by the fact that Drogba appears ready to bring his long stint at Stamford Bridge to an end.

The French side also have another card to play which was not present last summer – the presence of ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout.

Whether Drogba will be prepared to join PSG remains to be seen but, backed by Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, money will be no issue in the pursuit of the striker.

And even should PSG succeed in signing Drogba, it is unlikely to be the end of their moves to bolster the striking department, with Ancelotti keen on Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain.

Drogba picked up the Champions League with Chelsea on Saturday night in a stunningly effective tactical display from Blues interim manager Roberto Di Matteo.
