Giampaolo Pazzini clocked up a dream performance with AC Milan yesterday, firing in a hat-trick as the Rossoneri cruised to a 3-1 win away at Bologna in what was only his second game with the club.

Pazzini was recruited not long before the summer transfer window closed, moving from Milan’s rivals Inter in a deal which saw Antonio Cassano head the other way.

The Italy hitman has now made an instant impact in his new shirt and was quick to speak of his delight at having done so, even if he stressed that the performance was for himself and his new club, and not to send a signal to Inter.

"Bringing the ball home tonight gives me great satisfaction", said Pazzini post-match.

Asked whether his display had been to send a message to Inter, the striker replied: "I do not care.

"It is a signal for me and for those who believed in me.

"I could not ask for better than that. It has been months since I started and I’m really happy."

Next up for Milan is a visit from Atalanta before the club’s Champions League campaign begins against Anderlecht.
