Zinedine Zidane has moved to quash talk that he has left Real Madrid, insisting that his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho is strong.
The Portuguese tactician had said that Zidane had left the Bernabeu, heading back to France to study for his coaching qualifications. Mourinho also insisted that the development had happened "months ago".
relatedNewsStory The Real Madrid boss’ words came in response to mounting speculation that he had fallen out with Zidane, who has been acting as the club’s sporting director and also helping out on the coaching front with the reserve and youth teams.
Zidane though has moved to clear up the talk, insisting he has not moved on just yet and his relationship with Mourinho is fine.
The Frenchman did confirm his coaching desire however.
"My relationship with Mourinho has not changed", said Zidane.
"I work at Real Madrid with the reserve team and the youth team", he added.
"I’m trying to get my coaching qualifications and then we will see what happens next year."
It appears likely that, despite Zidane’s continued involvement, his coaching ambitions point to Real Madrid eventually appointing a new sporting director.
Zidane will also surely not be short of offers when he completes his various coaching courses.
