Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has refused to be drawn on the names of, and the number of, transfer targets he has lined up during the current window.

The French tactician has declared that he has money to spend this month and needs to strengthen his squad, with a top four Champions League spot looking far from certain for the Gunners this season; at present, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton all sit above them.

But Wenger will not be rushed, with a steely determination to go for quality over quantity, while he also will not be drawn on exactly which players are on his transfer shortlist.

Questioned at a press conference on transfers, Wenger said via his club’s feed that: "It is not the number that counts, only the quality."

And, he added: "I won’t give you any names."

Wenger did concede though that he has not made a move for Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha, who looks set for Manchester United.

There is still time left for Wenger to make signings however and the former Monaco boss has stressed that the majority of deals are done during the final week of the transfer window.

This year, 31st January falls on a Thursday.
