Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas believes that midfielder Michel Bastos will leave the club this month.

Bastos is wanted by a number of clubs during the current transfer window, with German giants Schalke very keen to secure his services.

It is thought Schalke will put money from selling Lewis Holtby to Tottenham Hotspur towards a €7M swoop for the 29-year-old.

And Aulas, who continues to be keen for Lyon to cut their costs as they cope with building a new stadium, thinks the Brazilian could leave.

"I think that he will go in January", Aulas told Tutto Mercato.

"He is in contact with German, English and Brazilian clubs."

Bastos has made 12 appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon so far this season and he is an option that coach Remi Garde will not be at all glad to lose, with a title challenge in progress.
