Former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is taking his first dip into the coaching pool by doing an internship at PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutchman played for PSV between 1998 and 2001, when Manchester United swooped to snap him up due to his prolific goalscoring in the Eredivisie.

Van Nistelrooy called time on a hugely successful career last summer, bowing out of the game at La Liga side Malaga.

But he wishes to continue his association with the game and is moving into coaching.

"I’ll get opportunities to work with the first team and the youth team. I’m very happy with it", Van Nistelrooy told the Eindhovens Dagblad.

"When exactly it will happen, I am not sure.

"In September, I’ll complete the course and receive my coaching qualifications and there should certainly be the internship at PSV."

Van Nistelrooy will believe he can pass on much experience to the club’s young players, having turned out for some of the biggest sides in world football.

The Dutchman won one Premier League title, one FA Cup and one League Cup at Manchester United, while he added two La Liga titles to his collection at Real Madrid.
