Bundesliga giants Schalke are interested in snapping up Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin for next season, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.
Schalke would like to take Coquelin to Gelsenkirchen either on a permanent deal or a season-long loan. And the 21-year-old may well be interested in joining the German club.
The Frenchman gave warning in 2011 to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he expects his fair share of playing time with the Gunners and this season Coquelin has featured just eleven times in the Premier League.
The defensively-minded midfielder looks set to have options if he chooses to leave Arsenal, with Spanish side Real Betis also keen to add Coquelin to their ranks for 2013/14.

It remains to be seen what role Wenger has in mind for Coquelin next season.
Coquelin has had a spell on loan away from Arsenal previously, having spent time back in his homeland with Lorient in the 2010/11 campaign.
