Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have pipped the competition, including fierce rivals Arsenal, for the signature of Barcelona striker David Villa, according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
Villa has been a hot commodity lately, particularly concerning his immediate future at the Camp Nou. With the Catalan giants looking set to bring over Brazilian sensation Neymar, the Spanish striker may find himself sinking further down the pecking order, with Lionel Messi and Pedro already proving to be tough competition.
Nevertheless, the Spanish international has proven that he still has that goalscoring ability. Sure enough, he has already scored a total 15 goals for the club in 40 appearance in total this season.
London giants Arsenal have long been dubbed favourites to sign the striker, but the Gunners’ attempt to lure Villa in January to the Emirates Stadium did go as planned, with their offer turned down by the Blaugrana.

Following such events come Tottenham Hotspur, who are mooted to be very close to sealing a deal with Barcelona, with only minor details left to be ironed out in order for the transfer to be pushed through.
Villa has a contract with Barcelona that will see him stay at the Camp Nou until the end of next season. He may leave much sooner than that though.
