Chelsea goal-poacher Fernando Torres has his sights set on lifting the UEFA Super Cup trophy with a win over Bayern Munich on 30th August.

Europa League winners Chelsea face Champions League winners Bayern Munich at the Eden Arena in Prague, and the Spaniard, who is relishing a third full season with the Blues, is gearing up to lift the first trophy of the term.

“Everyone is looking forward for next season. We’re sure it will be a great season”, the 29-year-old told his club’s official site.

“It’s another European trophy to play for. Obviously as Europa League winners you expect to play against the best team in Europe.

“The Champions League winners are often the favourites but it’s not very often they win.

“Hopefully we learn from the game we played against Atletico [Madrid], which was not good enough, and we can win the first trophy of the season in August.”

The former Liverpool star, who has been included in Spain’s 26-man provisional squad for the Confederations Cup, has also reflected on his season with the London giants.

“It’s been a good season. It’s a new squad with new players, many different players and a different style from last season.

“Expectations were high because we won the Champions League and we were fighting for many trophies. Everything was difficult around Christmas time; we changed the manager and lost the chance to win a couple of trophies.

“It wasn’t easy but we showed character and the level we should have. Winning the Europa League and finishing in the top three, you can’t say it’s a bad season.

“The future can only be better”, he added.

Torres has been in fine form with the Blues this season, scoring 22 goals from 64 appearances.

He also opened the scoring for Rafael Benitez’s side in the Europa League final, which Chelsea won 2-1 against Benfica at the Amsterdam ArenA.
