Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has insisted that improving on the club’s ninth-place finish in the Premier League will be difficult next season if he does not invest a “couple of hundred million pounds” this summer.
The Swans ended their 2012/13 campaign in the top tier of English football with 46 points. They also bagged the League Cup following a whopping 5-0 win over Bradford City in February – their first major trophy in England.
However, the Danish tactician believes that the teams who finished below the Swans will invest heavily in the summer, and the Welsh club could lose out on players in the process.
"Unless we find a couple of hundred million pounds I think last season we achieved nearly the maximum we can in terms of the table”, he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"There are always things you can improve, but there are not many higher positions we can look at. Even consolidating is going to be very difficult.
“Some of the teams below us this season will invest heavily; West Ham, Newcastle, Aston Villa. They are huge clubs who want to take the place where we are right now."
Bayram Tutumulu, Laudrup’s agent, has explained that 25-year-old Real Betis schemer Jose Canas is on his way to the Welsh club this summer.
Laudrup, who was appointed the manager of Swansea on 15th June 2012, landed former Rayo Vallecano attacking midfielder Michu for a modest fee of £2m last summer.
The 27-year-old Spaniard soon transformed himself to a goal-poacher and received rave reviews for his debut season with the Swans, where he also scored a whopping 18 league goals.
