Tottenham Hotspur have competition in their bid to sign Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin, with wealthy Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala entering the race.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas recently sent an offer of €20m to Guarin's current club Inter in an attempt to secure the hard-working schemer.
Inter though rebuffed the bid.
Now, according to Sky Italia, Anzhi Makhachkala have begun to make preliminary enquiries into the player's availability with a view to launching their own bid.

The expectation in Italy is that Spurs will return with an improved offer for Guarin, a player Villas-Boas worked with during his time in charge of Portuguese giants FC Porto.
Guarin joined Inter, initially on loan, in 2012, before the Nerazzurri made the switch a permanent one for a fee of €11m.
The Colombian international has seen his stock rise significantly over the last 12 months at the San Siro.
