Belgium international Nacer Chadli would rather wait for a few years and leave for a club of his choice than take a fall-back option, amid all the interest from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to his agent.

The FC Twente player has already indicated he will seek a move abroad this summer, with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund competing for his signature, alongside Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur.

Shakhtar had hoped to take the lead in that race by flying the player over to the club and giving him a guided tour of the their facilities.

However, Chadli’s agent Daniel Evrard appears to have politely turned down the affections from the Ukraine.

"Nacer would like to think about it", Evrard told Tubantia. "Because he’d rather go to a club in England, Italy or Germany.

"There are more clubs interested in him, so he would rather wait now for a few years than sign with a club in Ukraine.

"However, I do not expect him to be playing for FC Twente this September."

Twente have long maintained they will not sell Chadli to an Eredivisie rival, despite movement from Ajax, whilst the player is understood to be keen for Champions League football.

Chadli, who has just one year left on his contract at Twente, scored 10 goals in his 22 league games for the club this season.
