Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner could be on his way to the Bundesliga at the end of his loan spell this season, with Eintracht Frankfurt in serious discussions with the Dane.

Arsenal-employed Bendtner has been on loan at Juventus since August last year, and with his Gunners contract due to expire next summer, he will be keen to make a move as soon as possible.

Frankfurt were previously understood to be interested in the forward, but face competition from Malaga and Russian clubs as well.

With Frankfurt set for Europa League endeavours next season, Bendtner has been targeted by the German club, according to its executive chairman Heribert Bruchhagen.

Bruchhagen was the one who had previously indicated Frankfurt’s interest in the player, and his reiteration could pave the way for a transfer this summer.

"We’re talking seriously with Bendtner", Bruchhagen told Danish daily BT.

Bendtner has been out on loan on several occasions during his Arsenal contract, with spells at Birmingham and Sunderland added to his Italy experience.

And Frankfurt are understood to be in favour of giving Bendtner yet another loan spell before considering making the deal permanent.

Bendtner made 154 appearances for Arsenal’s senior outfit, having joined them on a youth contract in 2004, whilst injuries reduced his participation for Juventus, with just nine Serie A outings.
