PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar are still slugging it out for the transfer of Adam Maher, with the former not prepared to meet AZ’s €7m valuation, according to Voetbal International.
Ajax and PSV were in competition to sign Maher, who has been a revelation in the Eredivisie this season, making 31 appearances and scoring seven goals with five assists.
However, last Thursday saw Ajax pull out of that race, leaving PSV in pole position within Holland to make the purchase for the player whose AZ contract runs until 2015.
PSV were understood to have tabled an offer close to a final value of €8m, but in percentages which included a percentage on top of the seven mentioned intended for the player himself.

It seems, though, that there is still a gap – as yet undisclosed – between what AZ are expecting and what PSV were hoping to pay.
Marcel Brands, PSV technical director, maintains the two clubs are still holding discussions, even as reports claimed that a five-year deal for Maher was a given.
It remains to be seen if the protracted negotiations can yield a result, especially with Maher being chased by clubs such as Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester City as well.
At just 19, Maher has already made four senior appearances for Holland, while he kicked off the country’s European Under-21 Championship with a goal in their opening clash against Germany.
Maher was part of all four of their European Championship games, even as Holland exited the competition at the semi-final stage with a 1-0 defeat to Italy.
