Corinthians president Mario Gobbi has told his club’s fans that the team can cope with the departure of Paulinho, who looks set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur after the Confederations Cup.

The English Premier League side have activated Paulinho’s €20m release clause, leaving the decision squarely in the hands of the player.

Paulinho has said he will only make his mind up after the Confederations Cup, in which he is competing with Brazil.

But with the midfielder having admitted that the Premier League is "a dream", he seems set to opt for life at White Hart Lane.

And Gobbi is well aware of that fact – but he is not worried.

"The sale of the midfielder Paulinho is imminent", he was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

"I’ll replace him with the players who are already at our disposal", Gobbi continued.

"Guilherme, Edenilson or Ibson can take his place on the pitch and do just as well."

Guilherme joined Corinthians in 2012 from Portuguesa, while Edenilson landed at the club a year earlier, signed from Caxias. Ibson meanwhile is a new arrival, having been scooped up from Flamengo earlier this season.
