Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has insisted his club could still have more deals to broker with fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund, with the name of Robert Lewandowski firmly in the club’s sights.

The glare of the media lights on Lewandowski have not diminished in the past few days, as the Polish striker’s future at Dortmund is still unclear.

Indeed, it is thought that Lewandowski and his agent are pulling out all the stops to push a deal that will transfer the centre-forward from Signal Iduna Park to the Allianz Arena over the line, so much so that the striker actually rejected an offer from La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid.

For their part, Dortmund are refusing to budge, invoking the player’s contract to exert their right to lock Lewandowski down

With an apparent deadlock in place, Sammer remains hopeful his club can eke out a deal, telling reporters: "Lewandowski? There were meetings held. We are not ruling out further meetings with Borussia Dortmund."

Lewandowski’s contract with Dortmund expires at the end of the coming season.
