Juventus have left the field clear for Arsenal in their pursuit of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, with the club’s director general Giuseppe Marotta declaring the Bianconeri to be "full" in terms of their complement of marksmen, with room only for Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic.

The Italian champions have been Arsenal’s main opposition in their chase for Higuain, and the Argentine’s brother admitted recently that with Juventus having bought Carlos Tevez from Manchester City, the Gunners are now in pole position.

And this has been reiterated by Marotta, who has hinted at retreat in the club’s ambitions regarding the Real Madrid man, while leaving the door slightly open for Jovetic.

"Jovetic was an assumption, but right now we are full up front", Marotta was quoted as saying by Spanish daily AS.

"The Montenegrin is liked by Real Madrid, but [Antonio] Conte is aware of everything.

"We want five forwards and now we have [Mirko] Vucinic, [Alessandro] Matri, [Fabio] Quagliarella and [Sebastian] Giovinco, plus the additions of Tevez and [Fernando] Llorente."

Juventus have been willing to throw Quagliarella into a cash plus players deal for Jovetic and it remains to be seen if they can reach an agreement with Fiorentina for the forward.
