Manchester United are poised to come knocking on Barcelona's door once again when the transfer window re-opens in January, with Alex Song on the agenda.

The English champions pushed to sign two midfielders from Barcelona over the summer. At first David Moyes' men tried to tempt Thiago Alcantara to Old Trafford, but saw the playmaker snub their interest in favour of joining old boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Next on the club's radar was former Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas. However, Barcelona rejected two bids, while the midfielder himself declared his intention to stay put.

Now, according to Spanish daily AS, Manchester United are setting their sights on another former Gunner.

This time it is none other than Song in their crosshairs, with the Cameroonian midfielder having failed to yet fully establish himself at the Camp Nou.

Now Moyes is set to try to snare the 26-year-old to boost his side in January.

Song pondered quitting Barcelona in the summer, before being advised to stay put, not least by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

It remains to be seen how Song will respond to interest from the Gunners' rivals.
