Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all set to be disappointed as Barcelona have revealed contract renewal negotiations are well under way for Marc Bartra and Martin Montoya.

Chelsea are in the market for centre-back Bartra as speculation around their own defenders gathers pace.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool were looking to lock horns over Montoya, though the right-back has expressed his commitment to Barcelona.

And the club's vice-president of sport Josep Maria Bartomeu told Mundo Deportivo: "With Bartra, we are at a very advanced stage.

"He has a great future here.

"And then we are also talking with Montoya.

"Negotiations had stopped for a little bit but they have been reopened. The team are looking for him to play a big role with the club."

The assurances will come as pleasant news for Barcelona fans, with both Montoya and Bartra seeing their current deals expire next summer.
