Everton defender John Heitinga has chosen against moving to West Ham, despite Hammers boss Sam Allardyce sounding confident on a deal yesterday.
Heitinga had seemed set to join West Ham in search of the regular first team football which has proven elusive at Everton and which, in a World Cup year, is essential for his chances of heading to Brazil.
But following talks with the Hammers he has concluded that a switch to Upton Park would not be the right move in his career.
He said via his agents Sport-Promotion: "At my age it is important to make the right choices and it is not just about money, because that was not a problem at West Ham United.

"You must be convinced that you are making the right step and that feeling was not with me so I cancelled a move to West Ham United and now await the interest of other clubs."
And Heitinga is not worried about still being at Everton when the transfer window closes.
"That is that, so I'm confident that I can find another club before 31st January."
