Antonio Sanabria has confirmed he is indeed joining Roma from Barcelona, having picked the Giallorossi despite interest from English Premier League giants Arsenal.

Sanabria said his goodbyes to his Barcelona B team-mates earlier today and will complete a switch to the Italian capital when Roma have paid his release clause fee.

He had been expected to go to Arsenal in December, with his agent remarking: "Our contacts with Arsenal are advanced and a solution is expected next week."

However, Sanabria has confirmed it is to Roma he will head, with the Serie A side loaning him out to another club within Italy for the remainder of the current campaign.

The 17-year-old striker told Radio Monumental: "They [Roma] have already deposited the money needed with the Spanish federation for the clause at Barcelona.

"I'll go out on loan to another team in Serie A.

"The club will give me the options. I cannot play for Roma for six months."

Sanabria found the back of the net four times in three UEFA Youth League games this season.
