Franck Ribery could miss the entirety of Bayern Munich's Champions League Round of 16 tie against Arsenal.

The France international winger has already been ruled out of the first leg later this month after he had surgery on a burst blood vessel in his bottom.

He has been expected to return to action within the next two weeks, albeit with missing the first leg against Arsenal on 19th February certain.

But according to German daily Bild, Ribery's comeback could be pushed further back, to such an extent it would mean him missing the second leg of the tie on 11th March.

Ribery, a nominee for last year's FIFA Ballon d'Or, had been in good form for the German champions and his absence will be keenly felt by the Bavarians.

It would though be a boost to Arsenal if he were unable to take any part in the Champions League tie.

Ribery has clocked up 14 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich so far this season, hitting the back of the net on seven occasions.
