The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has already signalled his desire to manage in England and was linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job before Tim Sherwood was handed an 18-month contract.
Now, according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Van Gaal is being linked with Manchester United, where David Moyes is struggling to convince.

Moyes was handpicked by Sir Alex Ferguson to succeed him last summer, but has the Red Devils on course to miss out on the Champions League for the first time since 1995.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United are indeed thinking of Van Gaal as a replacement for the former Everton boss, but the Dutchman would be likely to be enthusiastic about taking charge.
"I've always said I that I want to work in the Premier League", Van Gaal said in December.
