Manchester United have been left deeply impressed with Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo and are preparing to launch a bid to snap up the Argentine in the summer transfer window.
The English champions' scouts are regulars at Sporting Lisbon games, with the club's interest in midfielder William Carvalho and forward Carlos Mane well documented.
But now a third starlet is firmly within Manchester United's sights – and that is 24-year-old Argentine defender Rojo.
According to Portuguese daily O Jogo, Manchester United scouts have been left astonished at Rojo's ability and have filed glowing reports on the player.
The left-back-cum-centre-back could now form part of a triple swoop launched by the Red Devils in the summer, as they bid to inject new life into their squad.
Manchester United sit just sixth in the Premier League at present and, unless they manage to win this season's Champions League, look set to miss out on the blue ribbon competition next term.
Rojo's Sporting Lisbon meanwhile sit second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and on course for a Champions League spot.
