Cagliari defender-cum-midfielder Danilo Avelar is on the radar at Leeds United as a potential summer reinforcement.

The Italian club's owner Massimo Cellino recently acquired Leeds and is looking closely at shifting a number of talents from the Serie A outfit to help the Yorkshire side's push for promotion to the Premier League next term.

Already strongly linked with making the journey from Cagliari to Leeds is Colombia striker Victor Ibarbo.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, he could be joined by Avelar, who came close to joining Leeds in January.

The Brazilian had been set to link up with the Elland Road outfit on loan, but there was not sufficient time before the closure of the winter window for the deal to be completed.

The 24-year-old, who also counts German giants Schalke amongst his former clubs, has managed 17 appearances in Serie A for Cagliari so far this season.

He also holds an Italian passport, something which will smooth his entry into English football.
