Liverpool are in discussions with Napoli over loaning Pepe Reina to the Serie A outfit for a further season.

Reina spent last term on loan at Napoli from the Merseyside outfit, helping the Azzurri to finish third in Serie A and win the Coppa Italia.

He is now due back at Liverpool following the expiration of his loan agreement, although his path to a starting spot is blocked by Belgian Simon Mignolet.

Napoli had backed out over a permanent deal for Reina, feeling the numbers involved were too high. However, according to Corriere dello Sport, the two teams are in talks over a fresh loan deal.

The loan agreement would see Liverpool and Napoli share paying Reina's salary for 2014/15.
