The president of Real Sociedad has travelled to London for talks with QPR over signing Spanish midfielder Esteban Granero.

The former Real Madrid schemer was loaned to Real Sociedad last year, but could only manage seven appearances for the Basque club due to a knee injury.

Nevertheless, the Spanish side wish to keep hold of Granero and, according to AS, president Jokin Aperribay has headed to London to thrash out a deal.

Granero is under contract with QPR until the summer of 2016, having joined the club in 2012 from Real Madrid.

The midfielder is thought to be keen to remain in his homeland and the onus is on Real Sociedad to keep hold of him.

The Basque side managed a finish of seventh in La Liga last term and have already pulled off a notable coup this summer by keeping Carlos Vela at the club when Arsenal bid to take him back to London.

Granero is currently with QPR at their training camp in Germany.
