AC Milan want to take Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel on a season-long loan, answering the Dutchman's call for regular first team football.

Van Ginkel missed the vast majority of last season at Chelsea after picking up a serious knee injury, which also derailed his dreams of making the Netherlands squad for the World Cup.

The midfielder is fully fit again, but did not even make the bench for Chelsea's opening Premier League game against Burnley on Monday evening.

His agent has admitted that the situation is less than ideal and revealed talks with Chelsea over the best next move for his client are ongoing.

"We are in talks with Chelsea", agent Karel Jansen said.

"Of course Marco wants to fight for his chance, but there must be some perspective. We are waiting for a response from Chelsea as to how they see things."

Now Milan are eyeing offering Jansen's client regular first team action and according to Sky Italia have made contact with Chelsea over signing the Dutchman on a season-long loan deal.

Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi is a firm van of Van Ginkel, who Chelsea signed from Vitesse last summer.

The Rossoneri are now waiting for Chelsea to decide what to do with the 21-year-old.
