Chelsea are ready to recall Marco van Ginkel from his loan spell at AC Milan due to the midfielder struggling for game time in Italy.

Van Ginkel missed the majority of last season through injury and was sent on loan to AC Milan in the summer to build up his playing time.

But an injury suffered in Italy, along with strong competition for a first team spot, restricted Van Ginkel to just one Serie A appearance so far, leaving Chelsea less than pleased.

Now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are ready to recall Van Ginkel and end his loan at the Rossoneri, if the situation does not change drastically.

Chelsea want to loan Van Ginkel to another club, preferably in the Premier League, to ensure he does clock up game time.

Ajax and PSV Eindhoven were interested in signing Van Ginkel on loan in the summer, but at the time Chelsea judged the level of the Dutch top flight too low to aid in their midfielder's development.
