Qatari outfit Al Sadd are prepared to offer a seven-year contract to tempt Spain legend Xavi away from Barcelona.

It has been speculation that Xavi’s representatives have been in touch with the Qatari side and the player himself was in the Middle Eastern country to discuss a potential switch.

Al Sadd president Mohammad al Ali also confirmed last month that they are trying to convince the Barcelona legend to join the club at the end of the season.

The Qataris are prepared to pull out all the stops to sign one of the all-time great midfielders and according to Spanish daily Marca they are prepared to offer a seven-year contract to the 35-year-old Xavi.

The deal is divided into two parts for the veteran midfielder; the first three seasons would see him turn out as a player and the remaining four as the club's global ambassador.

The Qatari FA also have big plans ahead of the 2022 World Cup in the country and are trying to recruit Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola as their national team manager.

If the former Barcelona man is not prepared to join the project then it has been claimed that they are willing to turn to Xavi and offer him the chance to take charge of the Qatari national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Xavi is yet to give his final nod to the deal but it is believed that the midfielder is keen to become part of the ambitious project.
