Stoke City and Southampton are both keen on Italy international striker Stefano Okaka, who turns out for Sampdoria at club level.

The 25-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for Sampdoria this term and as a result has popped onto the radar of the two English Premier League sides.

Stoke and Southampton are now actively weighing up a bid for Okaka, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Potters even had a scout at Sampdoria's last home match to watch the striker in action, in a sign of the seriousness of their interest.

Okaka is under contract with the Serie A club until the summer of 2016, placing Sampdoria in a tricky position when it comes to resisting his departure.
