Stoke City and Southampton are both keen on Italy international striker Stefano Okaka, who turns out for Sampdoria at club level.

The 25-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for Sampdoria this term and as a result has popped onto the radar of the two English Premier League sides.

Stoke and Southampton are now actively weighing up a bid for Okaka, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Potters even had a scout at Sampdoria's last home match to watch the striker in action, in a sign of the seriousness of their interest.

Okaka is under contract with the Serie A club until the summer of 2016, placing Sampdoria in a tricky position when it comes to resisting his departure.

The former Roma man has clocked up 33 appearances in all competitions for Sampdoria so far this season, scoring four goals and providing his team-mates with three assists.

The striker has been capped for Italy at international level and made his Azzurri debut against Albania in a friendly in November last year.
