Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann is set to secure a switch to Championship outfit Derby County, according to the BBC.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Villans as a youngster, rose through the ranks to make his senior debut for the club in 2010.

And apart from a brief loan spell at Watford, he has been with the Claret and Blues, having managed a total of 113 appearances and scoring 17 goals. He has also provided his team-mates with ten assists.

However, Weimann has fallen out of favour of late, with manager Tim Sherwood preferring not to use him too often.

In fact the Austrian has managed only two appearances since playing against Swansea City on 21st March.

The 23-year-old has another year left on his contract but with Aston Villa not looking at him as one of their primary striking options for next season, the Rams might well be able to crack the deal sooner rather than later.

Paul Clement is also reportedly keen on former Reading defender Alex Pearce, who is out-of-contract this summer.
