Stephen Warnock has pondered on the fact that he could have been playing in the New York derby this evening if he had left Leeds United for the MLS last summer.

New York City FC are due to take on New York Red Bulls this evening in the MLS, with New York City aiming to gain revenge for a 2-1 defeat to their local rivals in May.

Warnock currently turns out for Derby County in the Championship, but he was with Leeds last summer.

And with the game drawing closer, Warnock took to Twitter to reveal that had things gone differently last summer then he could have been involved in the New York derby this evening.

The left-back wrote: "Funny to think if things had gone different at the start of last season I could of [sic] been playing in the New York derby tonight! #MLS"
