Erik Lamela's representatives have not been contacted by Juventus, despite speculation that the Italian champions want to sign the winger from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Argentina international's stock remains sky high in Italy due to a spell brimming with promise at Roma, before he headed to join Tottenham in the summer of 2013 on a deal worth up to £30m.

Despite being rated by the Bianconeri, sources close to the player have told Italian daily Corriere dello Sport that Juventus have made no contact over signing Lamela and insist no Italian side can afford the Argentine.

Indeed, someone close to Lamela was quoted as saying: "He is a player who is too expensive for the Italian market, both for the transfer and for the wages."

And Lamela remains determined to repay Spurs' trust after a lacklustre start to life at White Hart Lane following his big-money move.

The 23-year-old made 46 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions last season, scoring five goals and providing his team-mates with ten assists, as the north London side finished fifth in the Premier League.

Lamela is locked down on a contract with Mauricio Pochettino's men until the summer of 2018.
