Real Betis have made contact with Arsenal over signing winger Wellington Silva for the forthcoming Spanish campaign.

The Seville-based outfit were closing in on Izet Hajrovic last week, but their efforts to sign the Werder Bremen winger have stalled.

Real Betis are not prepared to wait for Hajrovic and, according to Seville-based Estadio Deportivo, the Spanish side have made contact with Arsenal over signing Silva.

The 22-year-old wide-man is vastly experienced in Spanish football, having had a series of loan spells away from Arsenal, the side he joined in 2011.

Last season Silva was on loan at Almeria and Real Betis believe he would be an acceptable solution for their desire to add a winger.

It is not clear what plans Arsenal have for the Brazilian however, though Real Betis will cross their fingers for Silva's arrival.

The Brazilian has had loan stints at Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Real Murcia and Almeria since inking a deal with Arsenal, joining the Gunners from Fluminense.
