Rangers skipper Lee Wallace has highlighted the need for more creativity in the attacking third if his team are to push for promotion this season.

Mark Warburton’s side let slip a 1-0 lead away to Livingston after Jason Holt had opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Myles Hippolyte equalized for the Amber Machine in the 51st minute to help them stay in seventh place in the league table.

The Scottish side currently sit at the top of the Scottish Championship, level on points with Hibernian – albeit with a game in hand.

The Light Blues dropped points for only the second time this season, and Wallace rued the missed opportunity to get all three points. However, the 28-year-old urged more creativity from his side and insisted that the team should look to play their brand of expansive football as much as possible.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw, Wallace told Rangers' official site: “We will look at the game as a team and as individuals and look at how we can do better and how we can contribute better in the game. It’s just about looking forward and being better for this game.

“We probably want more creation, especially in the final third and I think that comes from everybody not just the front three.

“In the way we play we are really expansive and we look to try and get guys forward from all areas of the pitch, we need more of that.

“The effort was still there though, we worked hard and the lads didn’t deviate from what we do. It’s a frustrated dressing room because we know that is two points dropped."

Warburton's men are next in action next weekend when they lock horns with St Mirren in the semi-final of the Scottish Challenge Cup.
