Rangers defender Dominic Ball has joked he would have trouble moving if he was as big as his team-mate Martyn Waghorn.

Waghorn and Ball were both recruited by Gers manager Mark Warburton in the summer and the duo have been instrumental in the team’s rise to the summit of the Scottish Championship.

Waghorn is the Gers’ leading scorer in all competitions, having scored 19 goals so far this season.

Ball, on loan from English side Tottenham Hotspur, was recently asked if he would one day hope to be as well built as the striker, to which the 20-year-old joked in an interview with Rangers TV: “Maybe when I have finished my career, I would like to look like him, keep in shape maybe.

“But, for the time being, if I was that big, I wouldn’t be able to move.”

The 20-year-old also believes that Waghorn has the potential to be the best UFC fighter out of the current Rangers squad. Ball explained that the 25-year-old has the strength to crush any opponent.

“Waggy [Martyn Waghorn], because he could just squash his opponent or probably just bear hug him.”

Waghorn scored in the 4-0 demolition of Dumbarton on Tuesday and will be hoping to continue his prolific scoring spree against Raith at Stark’s Park tomorrow.
