Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has compared the mismatch between the Bhoys and Barcelona on Tuesday night in the Champions League to Celtic's 5-1 drubbing of Rangers last weekend.

Brendan Rodgers' side were taken apart at the Camp Nou by the Catalan giants, who inflicted upon them their heaviest ever defeat in European competition, running out comfortable 7-0 winners.

It was put to Sutton on Twitter that Barcelona barely broke sweat against Celtic and the Scottish champions were lucky to only concede seven goals.

But Sutton used the opportunity to ironically agree and suggest the mismatch on display mirrored that between Celtic and Rangers on Saturday at Parkhead.

"Yes agreed and it mirrored a certain game at the weekend…..Two embarrassing one sided games", Sutton wrote.

Celtic have received criticism for losing 7-0 to Barcelona, but are now looking to bounce back quickly in a Champions League group which is unforgiving.

Indeed, next up for the Bhoys is a visit from Premier League giants Manchester City, now bossed by Pep Guardiola.

Rangers meanwhile will try to shrug off their Old Firm loss when they host Ross County at Ibrox at the weekend.
