Could Have Easily Played Centre-Midfield – Rangers Midfielder Hails Everton Star

Rangers star and Canada international Scott Arfield believes that Everton defender Michael Keane could play in central midfield and has revealed that Burnley boss Sean Dyche was thinking of playing him in that role.

Keane, who came through the youth ranks at Manchester United, played with Arfield at Turf Moor before making the move to Goodison Park in the summer of 2017.

Everton forked out big money to sign Keane, paying Burnley an initial £25m for the central defender, and Arfield says they have a player who is comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Indeed, so comfortable is Keane with the ball, Arfield says he could have played in central midfield and Burnley boss Dyche considered moving him into the role.
 

Revealing his top team to Rangers TV, Arfield said: "He's just so comfortable on the ball. 

"He could have easily played in the central midfielder position.

"During his time at Burnley I think the gaffer was thinking about playing him in there because he was so comfortable.

"He's so good on the ball and dominant in the air as well."

Keane, 25, is a regular at Everton under Toffees boss Marco Silva, playing the full 90 minutes in all eleven of his league outings so far, with just two Premier League games missed through injury.

He made 108 appearances during his time at Burnley.
