Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has revealed that every player in the Bhoys dressing room wants Scott Brown to stay at the club, in spite of interest from Australian side Western Melbourne.

The 33-year-old midfielder is a long-serving player with the Bhoys, but has entered the final six months of his contract at the club, which is set to expire at the end of May.

Brown's midfield partner McGregor believes that the veteran is a figurehead for every player in the dressing room and no one wants him to leave.

McGregor thinks that Celtic will be doing all they can to lock Brown down at the club, with his influence big on and off the pitch.

"He's been a massive part of this club for eleven years", McGregor was quoted as saying by STV.

"I think if you ask any player how big he is in terms of character and how good a player he is then he would be a massive loss for Celtic.

"So I think we'll be doing everything we can to keep him.

"I think you can see on and off the pitch that he's such a big character. He helps everyone in the team, older or younger.

"He's that figurehead for the boys in the changing room.

McGregor does not know what the future will hold for Brown, but insists the Celtic players are united in wanting him to stay.

"You would need to ask him that [about his future].

"But I think for any of the players you definitely want him to stay."

Western Melbourne view Brown as the ideal player to help kick off their debut campaign in the Australian A-League.
