The 21-year-old Frenchman joined the German side from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal on deadline day with no option to buy.

Mikel Arteta was unhappy with Guendouzi’s attitude at Arsenal last season and the Gunners were keen to move him on from the Spaniard’s squad.

The Frenchman is currently with the France Under-21 squad and is focused on what he wants to do this season.

The midfielder stressed that he is clear in his head about what he needs to do this season at Hertha Berlin before his scheduled return to Arsenal next summer.

Guendouzi was quoted as saying by French sports daily L’Equipe: “I am fine in my head, everything is clear.

“I know what I am going to do this year.”

Guendouzi will have a year left on his contract with Arsenal next summer and it remains to be seen whether he has a long term future under Arteta at the Emirates.
