The 23-year-old winger has been the subject of loan interest from a host of clubs in the Championship in the final days of the domestic transfer window.

Reading, Bristol City and Derby are all interested in signing the Wales international, while Swansea City have seen a bid turned down.

Derby, who took the player on loan in the 2018/19 season, were claimed to be favourites to sign him going into the final day of the window.

However, Cardiff are currently in advanced talks with Liverpool over a loan deal for Wilson and are leading the chase to land the winger before today’s deadline.

The Bluebirds are also claimed to have reached an agreement with the Merseyside-based club over a loan fee for Wilson.

Locked in advanced talks with Liverpool, Neil Harris’ side will be hopeful of finalising the transfer of Wilson before the clock stops ticking.

Liverpool were keen to sell Wilson in the window but failed to find clubs willing to meet their valuation, forcing them to change their stance on sending him away on loan.

It remains to be seen if his other suitors will now battle to overtake Cardiff in the race.
