Thomas Frank’s side are keen to strengthen the ranks before the domestic transfer window slams shut this evening.

Brentford have identified Sheffield Wednesday captain Bannan as the ideal candidate to bolster their midfield options and want to land him before the deadline.

The Bees made an offer in the region of £1m in an attempt to sign the 30-year-old from their league rivals but saw it knocked back on Wednesday.

However, despite having their initial offer rejected, Brentford remain interested in signing Bannan from the Owls in the final hours of the window.

Although they have not submitted a renewed bid yet, the London-based club could return with an improved offer for the midfielder today.

It is unclear whether Brentford can manage to convince their Championship rivals to sell their star player on the final day of the window.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk insisted that Bannan is a key part of his plans earlier this week.
