The Owls have already snapped up Derby County hitman Marriott on a season-long loan deal and are now poised to make another addition to their squad.

Garry Monk’s side are shorthanded in the defensive department with multiple players sidelined through injury and the Englishman is eager to rope in a new defender before the evening’s domestic transfer deadline.

Monk, who is looking for an experienced addition to his backline, has zeroed in on Cardiff centre-back Flint.

The 31-year-old defender is in line to become the Yorkshire outfit’s latest signing with a loan deal on the cards.

Flint has fallen out of favour at Cardiff and been left out of the matchday squad for the Bluebirds’ opening four Championship outings this season.

And the centre-back was only on the bench for his team’s 3-0 EFL Cup defeat to Northampton Town.

Flint joined Cardiff in 2019 from Championship side Middlesbrough and his contract at the Welsh outfit runs until the summer of 2022.
